7th Grade Community Service

2015-2016

The GWMS 7th Grade Community Service Program strives to teach students how to apply their knowledge and skills to address important school and community needs.  By participating, students discover new interests and abilities, learn to work collaboratively, take on leadership roles, and learn the value of caring about and helping others.

Each GW 7th Grader is required to fulfill 10 hours of community service throughout the year.  Students may choose from one of the organizations listed on the below attachment, or any other not-for-profit organization approved by Mr. Piacenza. If students do chose to work through one of “our” organizations, a parent liaison will be in touch as to scheduling service opportunities.

After volunteering with a particular organization, students should complete the Service Log and submit it to their homeroom teacher so that we can keep track of each student’s hours.

If any student or parent has any questions, please contact Mr. Piacenza at mpiacenza@ridgewood.k12.nj.us or parent co-chair Carrie Fyock at tctfyock@optonline.net
